Cakra Sutrisna is the founder of Cakra Sutrisna & Partners. He is with over 10 years’ experience in Indonesia and Singapore. He holds the first Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Indonesia in three years and an LL.M. in corporate law from New York University.
Prior to setting up the firm, he worked in Linklaters Singapore and spent for over four years of his international practice in Singapore which enabled him to deal not only with Indonesian law related matters but also with other multi-jurisdictions related matters including England and Wales, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, People's Republic of China and Thailand.
During his employment with Linklaters Singapore, he spent 6 months secondment at BNP Paribas, Singapore in 2017.
Cakra is recognised as one of Indonesia’s young leading banking and general corporate practitioners, with wide range of international and national reputations for corporate, investment, finance and banking transactions, including advising many of the world’s major financial institutions, companies and creditors on acquisition finance, debt restructuring, syndication & bilateral corporate and project financing, derivatives, structured financings, bond issuance transactions, security structures for both international and Indonesian banks.
He has extensive experiences in Indonesian general corporate, investment, banking and finance regulations. He has also involved in some of the largest cross-border transactions in Asia which involve numerous law firms and cover various areas of law, among others: capital markets, banking, investment, mining, property, shipping, natural resources, corporate law and dispute matters.
Cakra’s selected experience includes:
- Advising Credit Agricole on the US$1.044bn guarantee facility for PT Pertamina in connection with the acquisition of Maurel & Prom, the Euronext Paris listed in independent oil company with most of its oil and gas assets in Africa.
- Advising Qatar Investment Authority on the refinancing of S$2.1bn facilities for acquisition of Asia Square Tower 1, Singapore.
- Advising Standard Chartered Bank as arranger on the financing for PT Solusi Tunas Pratama Tbk relating to the acquisition of over 3,500 telecommunication towers from XL Axiata.
- Advising PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk and PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance on their financing of US$142m facilities to PT Prima Terminal Petikemas for the financing of the supra-structure of Pelabuhan Belawan International Container Terminal Fase II located at Belawan, Medan, North Sumatra.
- Advising ING Bank N.V., Singapore Branch on their financing of US$40m facilities to PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk supported by the pledge of listed shares of PT Adaro Energy Tbk and PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk.
- Advising Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Japan Ltd. in relation to the restructuring of the loan of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk.
- Advising International Finance Corporation in connection with the first green bond subscription agreement with an amount of US$150m issued by PT Bank OCBC NISP Tbk.
- Advising PT Adaro Indonesia Tbk. in the issuance of a US$800m bond and in the acquisition of US$450m over seven BHP Mining Companies in Indonesia.
- Advising PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk., as the purchaser in the acquisition of mining company PT Binamitra Sumberarta in Samarinda and Kutai Kartanegara.
- Advising PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika Tbk. in the acquisition and bidding process for PT ANJ Rent and PT ANJ Finance for US$150m.
- Advising Salim Group in the issuance of several promissory notes and exchangeable notes.
- Advising PT Tobu Indonesia Steel in a litigation case concerning the derivative products with Standard Chartered Bank and HSBC.
